Built at the turn of the century, Balsam Mountain Inn is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and approximately 45 miles from Asheville Regional Airport. The inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its 23 acres are 3,500 feet above sea level. This location is off US Highway 23/74 and about 40 minutes west of Asheville. Hotel amenities include the Seven Springs restaurant, 2,000-volume library, two meeting rooms, card/puzzle room, sitting parlor, hiking trails, gift shop, and two 100-foot porches. Breakfast is included in the room rate. A variety of songwriters and musicians perform at the inn on a regular basis. All rooms feature individual decoration, private baths, antique iron beds, and Victorian trim accents. The rooms provide little distractions; there are no TVs radios, telephones, or alarm clocks (alarms are available at the front desk).
